Mary Grace Sutherland Gregory
Mary Grace Sutherland Gregory, 95, Greenfield, passed away peacefully Sept. 25, 2013. She was born July 15, 1918, in Todds Point, Ky., the sixth of nine children born to James Hezikiah and Stella Mae (Searcy) Sutherland.
Mary graduated valedictorian of her high school class in Georgia, and attended Murray State Teachers College in Murray, Ky., studying library science.
Mary married Richard Parker Gregory, Jr. Nov. 15, 1941, in Duncan Memorial Chapel in Crestwood, Ky. They lived in Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois and Tennessee before settling in Greenfield in Aug. 1957 when Richard accepted a position at Eli Lilly & Co.
Mary was a member of the Greenfield Christian Church. She was active in CWF, Tri Kappa, loved playing bridge, and will always be remembered for her quick wit.
Mary is survived by her children, Mary Linn (Larry) Darlage, Richard P. (Kris) Gregory IV, Debra Gregory (Bob) Jenks and Timothy Sutherland (Mary) Gregory; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, and 1 hour prior to the service, at the Stillinger Family Funeral Home Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Park Cemetery.
