Richard L. “Dick” Hoffmeyer

Richard L. “Dick” Hoffmeyer, 74, of Tavares, Fla., and Greenfield, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on May 4, 1939 in Guilford, Ind., as the son of Leroy Lewis Henry and Inez Otho (Ashcraft) Hoffmeyer.

He graduated from Moores Hill High School in 1957. Mr. Hoffmeyer received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Ball State University.

He married Glenda Lea (Schuler) on June 11, 1960 in Hogan Hill, Ind. They were happily married for 53 years.

He worked forty years as a High School Administrator, Teacher and Coach in Indiana and Florida. He was a member of Westport Baptist Church, Indiana Teachers Association and Palm Beach Baptist Church choir. Dick enjoyed song writing, playing the guitar and sports.

He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda; sons, Dean (Sabrina) Hoffmeyer of Richmond, Va., Deron (Vanessa) Hoffmeyer of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Rhonda (David) Schrank of Greenfield, Redawna (Greg) Warner of Greenfield, Rachelle (John) Padgett of Charlotte, N.C., Rhissa (Trip) Parker of Orlando, Fla.; brother, Norman (Beverly) Hoffmeyer of Brooksville, Fla.; sisters, Joyce (Larry) Volz of Milan, Ind., Gladys (Ed) Moore of Greenfield; seventeen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013,  at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Hogan Hill Baptist Church in Aurora, Ind. Pastor Matt Wickham will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Hogan Hill Cemetery.
