Richard E. “Dick” Van Sickle

Richard E. “Dick” Van Sickle, 77, Carthage, passed away Aug. 21, 2013. He was born May 16, 1936 in Indianapolis.

After working as a State Farm Insurance agent for over 40 years, he has many clients, co-workers, and friends who will miss him greatly.

Richard was a past president and member of the Greater Indianapolis Bowling Association, and was a past board member of the Indianapolis Speech and Hearing Center.

He was an avid bowler and golfer. Richard enjoyed bowling in scratch leagues and tournaments, and had an over 200 average. He loved playing golf and had a six or seven handicap.

Even in his days in the nursing center, the staff said Richard always had a smile for them. A shining light has left this world. Be at peace Richard and go with God and love forever.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 35 years, Nila; a step-daughter, Wendy Van Sickle; two grandchildren, Lee Michael Van Sickle and MacKenzie Dawn Van Sickle; a brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Pat Van Sickle; and a sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Earl Gardner.

Richard was preceded in death by his son, Richard Van Sickle III.

Services will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15th  at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, with visitation from 1 p.m. until service time. Cremation will be accorded.
