Robert C. Buck, 77, of Morristown, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Kindred Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was born Sept. 21, 1935, in Covington, Ky., son of Robert C. Sr. and Leone (Kail) Buck.

Robert was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1958 to 1967. He was formerly the Greenfield City water manager from 1967 to 1970; the superintendent of the Shelby County Highway Department from 1976 to 1978, serving during the blizzard of 1978.  Robert retired in 1995, after over 20 years of service, from Caldwell Gravel Sales.

He was survived by his wife from 1956 to 1978, Janet Gwinnup of Rushville; his companion for the last 10 years, Steffey Johnson of Morristown; sons, Mark R. (Terri) Buck of Griffin, Ga., and Scott D. Buck of Nashua, N.H.; daughter, Tracy A. (Chris) Jennings of Greenfield; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife from 1995 to 2004, Norma Marie Dilley; and a half-sister, Patti Buck.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Morristown American Legion.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post No. 102, in care of the funeral home.
