Virginia D. (Swain) Wilson

Virginia D. (Swain) Wilson, 87, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Morristown Manor. She was born on October 27, 1925, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Gurney and Bessie (Carrol) Swain.

She graduated from Morristown High School in 1943. She married James A. Wilson on January 23, 1945.

Virginia co-owned and operated Jim’s Marathon in Morristown. She was a proud and dedicated housewife, a bus driver for Shelby Eastern Schools for 16 years, and had worked in the Morristown Elementary cafeteria. She was a member of the Morristown United Methodist Church, the Morristown Order of the Eastern Star, and the Morristown Women’s American Legion Auxiliary.

Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Jim Wilson of Morristown; sons, Donald A. (Gwen) Wilson of Tarpon Springs, Fla., and Dr. Greg D. (Karen) Wilson of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Margaret Payne of Shelbyville; five grandchildren, Dane, Tisha, Tiffany, Brooke, and Adam; and six great-grandchildren, Gibson, Lilly, Townsend, Jenna, Kai, and Hayden.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Gurney and Bessie Swain; and her daughter, Judith Mae Erlewein.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013, at the mortuary, with Reverend Jeri Barrett-Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
