Lester “Red” Odell Howard, 80, of Clendenin, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at home after a long illness.

Red, a member of the Clendenin Church of God, was retired from General Motors as a set-up man after 31 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Howard; sons, Daniel Earl Manning of Ohio, Charles Richard Manning of Pinch, W.Va., Robert Dale Manning of Ohio; daughter, Linda Sue Axson of Michigan; sister, Deloris Newbowe of Indiana; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Mason and Deloris (Riley) Howard; son, David Lee Howard; and brother, William Mason “Junior” Howard Jr.

His family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 28th, 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 29th, and 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 30th at the funeral home. Red’s funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Heritage Funeral Care in Knightstown, Ind., with Pastor Bob Day officiating. Burial will be at Glen Grove Cemetery in Knightstown, Ind. There will be no services in West Virginia.
