John V. Mattingly

John V. Mattingly, age 72, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Hancock Regional Hospice. He was born on September 7, 1940, in Indianapolis as the son of Harold and Mary (Fenton) Mattingly.

He graduated from Scecina Memorial High School in 1958. He married Nikki L. (Robbins) Mattingly on July 9, 1975. He was the owner of Mattingly Automotive for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and Brookville Road Community Church. Mr. Mattingly was also a member of the NRA and the NHRA. John had a deep love for cars and fixing them and also had a passion for stock car racing. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving him are his spouse, Nikki Mattingly of Greenfield; children, Tina (Rich) Levy of Maine, Terry Mattingly of Greenfield, Detrie (Dan) Franks of Batesville, Eric (Patti) Leisure of Texas, and Andi (Troy) Virt of Greenfield; brothers, James P. (Mary Margaret) Mattingly of Indianapolis, and Danny A. (Vicki) Mattingly of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013, also at the Mortuary. Pastor Paul Romoser will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
