Harold J. Laird, 92, of Anderson, passed away June 1, 2013, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield after an extended illness. He was born Jan. 18, 1921, the son of the late William and Stella (Larmore) Laird in Warrington, Ind., and had lived in Anderson since 1949.

He was a life long farmer and was a school bus driver for South Madison Community Schools for 24 years. Harold served in the Army during WWII in the Glider Infantry. He was also an avid New York Yankees fan.

He is survived by three sons, Jimmy (Linda Beemer) Laird of Anderson, Dick (Judy Daniels) Laird of Greenfield and Michael (Jane Webb) Laird of St. Mary’s, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Laird of The Villages, Fla., Angela (Joe) Nadaline of Anderson, Jason (Jodi) Laird of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Jonathan Laird of Seattle, Wash., Robyn Laird of Celina, Ohio, Summer (Ryan) Grinstead of Greenfield and Anna (Jonathan) Coffey of Lima, Ohio; six great -grandchildren, Morgan and Alexa Nadaline, Carter and Owen Grinstead, Ariel and Aaron Laird; two sisters, Mary Buffington and Norma Jean Wilkinson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elsie M. Laird on June 18, 2010; and two brothers, Max Laird and John Laird

The family would like to thank the staff of Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield for all the special care given to Harold.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the funeral home. Services will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 7, 2013, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Pastor Jay Harvey officiating. Burial will be in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson where military graveside rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 266 Honor Guard.
