Harold Emerson Holt
Harold Emerson Holt, 70, of Greenfield, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013, at the Hancock Regional Hospital Hospice Unit. He was born on September 5, 1942, at his home in Blue River Township of Hancock County. He was the son of Oral Joe and Opal Fern (Arnold) Holt.
He graduated from Charlottesville High School in 1960, and he married Nancy Ann Titus on July 2, 1966, in Greenfield. Harold served in the National Guard during the 1960s. He had been in the Greenfield business community for 54 years. His career spanned time with Shelby Service, Holt’s 76 Station, Patterson Auto, and Riley Park Tire for 24 years. Harold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed antiquing auctions, gardening and flowers, and his pond and Koi fish. He was a member of Eden United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Holt of Greenfield; sons, Rodney H. Holt, John Michael Holt, and Gary Holt, all of Greenfield; two grandchildren, Alexia Cooper and Hunter Michael Holt; sisters, Dorthea Beyers of Fortville, Irene McDaniel of New York; brothers, Landon (Jean) Holt of Greenfield, John (Wanda) Holt of Fortville; sister-in-law, Carolyn (John) Moran; brother-in-law, Gerald (Mary) Titus; many nieces, nephews, and neighborhood children; and his doggie, Sadie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and twin sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, June 7, 2013, also at the mortuary. Reverend John Reading will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
