Tyler Massengale, 23, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 25, 2013, in Indianapolis. He was born Oct. 24,1989, in Fort Rucker, Ala., to First Sergeant (Retired) Harold Massengale and Leann Fox Massengale.

Tyler was a 2008 graduate of Eastern Hancock School and attended Ivy Tech Community College. He played high school baseball, basketball and was on the track and cross country teams. He also represented the Greenfield All Star Baseball team for several seasons. Tyler was an avid sports fan, and especially loved watching the Indiana Pacers, Cincinnati Reds, Indiana Hoosiers and Indianapolis Colts. He had coached first grade basketball leagues at the Henry County YMCA and also the 5th and 6th grade basketball team. He was a member of the Who’s Who in Little League baseball. Tyler loved fishing, boating, listening to and playing music and spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his father, First Sergeant (Retired) Harold Massengale of Indianapolis; mother, Leann Fox Massengale of New Castle; son, Tylyn Massengale; sister, Haley Massengale of Indianapolis; maternal grandfather, Richard Fox of New Castle; paternal grandmother, Glenda Massengale of Selma; companion of 3 1/2 years and mother of Tylyn, Randi Coomer of New Castle; several aunts, uncles, cousins, a nephew and many special friends.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Eva Fox; paternal grandfather, Robert D. Massengale; and an uncle, Jimmy McCutchen.

Friends may call from 11a.m.- 1 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2013, at the funeral home. Services will be at 1 p.m., on Friday, May 31, 2013, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition.
