Merlene Faye Potts, 81 of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Major Hospital, Shelbyville. She was born June 27, 1931, in Indianapolis to the late Kenneth and Faye (Fulford) Bennett.

She was a 1949 graduate of Charlottesville High School. Merlene was a service advisor for Ralph Hockett and Russ Dellen car dealerships. She was a member of the Greenfield American Legion Post #119, Ladies Auxiliary and the Greenfield Bowling Association where she had served as president.

Merlene is survived by son, Randy Potts of Greenfield; daughters, Nickey (Kenneth) Hansome of Shelbyville, Jerry Epperson of Fairland, Jan Cook-Culley of Indianapolis, and Terry Potts of Greenfield; sisters, MarthaLou Wooten of Greenfield and Juanita Bullard of Murrels Inlet, S.C.; ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers,  Fieldon, Robert, Merl and Ronnie Bennett; and sisters, Betty Stewart and Naomi Bennett.

Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140. Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.
