Norma (Chambers) Whitton
Norma (Chambers) Whitton, 89, a long time Greenfield resident, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Cardinal Nursing and Rehab, South Bend, Ind. She was born January 31, 1924, in New Castle, to the late Ovid G. Chambers and Marie (Western) Chambers.
Norma graduated New Castle High School in 1942, and attended New Castle Business School. She worked at Harris School Cafeteria for ten years, and Hair Reflections Salon for ten years. Norma belonged to Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Charter President Lambda Iota Chapter, and American Legion Auxiliary Post #119, Greenfield.
She is survived by her son, Matthew (Judith) Whitton of Greenfield; daughter-in-law, Almeda Whitton of South Bend; seven grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; brother “Ovid” Bud (Betty) Chambers of New Albany; four nieces; and cousin Rosellen Allen Shore of New Castle.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents; son, David Whitton; and sister, Lela Mae Chambers.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m., May 16, 2013, at South Mound Cemetery, 505 Bundy Avenue, New Castle, IN, 47362. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield.
