Joseph N. "Joe" Mitchell, 86, Lapel, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013. He was born on March 9, 1927, in Anderson, to F. E. and Josephine Mitchell.
He was proud to serve his country in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater.
He is survived by wife, of 64 years, Kathryn (Smith) Mitchell; four
children, Nancy (Jack) Hartley of Sarasota, Fla., Mark (Maryann) Mitchell of Indianapolis, Emily Jane (Clair) Stark of North Port, Fla., and Jennifer Musick of Pendleton; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jack and David Mitchell.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, May 3, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Burial followed in Anderson.
