Martha A. West, 70, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born March 19, 1943, in St. Paul, Ind., a daughter of Harold A. and Alice M. (Pettit) Davis.
She earned an AA degree in School of Ministry and a BA from Florida Beacon Bible College and served as a missionary in Columbia for five years. Martha had previously been employed at Western Electric, GE Company and Valeo in Greensburg. She also worked at Pioneer Seed each fall and in the pit office during May for the Indy 500 race. She loved to read, play cards, work puzzles and spend time with her family. Martha volunteered at several organizations including the soup kitchen in Greenfield and belonged to Bible Study groups.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Gary Lee (Joyce) West and Barbara Lynn West both of Greenfield; grandchildren, Tosha Nicole (Alphonse Dubois) West, Kaleigh Marie (Aron) Bennett and Kevin Michael West; great-grandchild, Braxton Christopher Dubois; siblings, Darrell (Anne) Davis of Ruskin, Fla., Alvin Davis of New Castle, Carl (Phyllis) Davis of Greenfield, Kay (Dahl) Petry of Arlington, Ruth (Jerry) May of Arlington; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two nephews, Larry Davis and Steven Petry.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastors Dave Woods and Danny Curry officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Monday.
