Gerald (Jerry) Edward Waddell, 72, of New Palestine, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 11, 2013. Jerry was born on Dec. 15, 1940, in Harvard, Ill., to Ruben and Doris Waddell.

Jerry resided in Indianapolis and New Palestine for most of his life. His career included being a skilled welder and he enjoyed his recent years of retirement. Jerry battled with cancer for several years, but passed away in peace, with his wife by his side.

Jerry faithfully attended Brookville Road Community Church and was baptized in April, 2012. He enjoyed playing golf, volunteering at a local golf course, supporting our Colts and Pacer teams, tinkering in his garage, fishing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

Those who knew Jerry were blessed. He remained positive during his battle with cancer and enjoyed several years with us after his first prognosis. His wife, Patsy, stood by his side through the best and the worst, and she is at peace with his passing. He will be deeply missed by us all.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Patsy Waddell of 20 years. They were married in Gatlinburg, Tenn., on Aug. 19, 1992.

Jerry is lovingly remembered by his children, Cyndi Waddell Harrington and Lisa Waddell; brother, Ron Snippen; and sister, Joyce Conley; former wife and family friend, Sharon Waddell; step-children, Sonna Robb Clunie, Beth Robb Harper, and Michael Robb; grandchildren, Brittany Walker, Brian Miles and Courtney Vorhies; step-grandchildren, Jennah Robb, Hannah Clunie, Jacee Robb, Wyatt Lich, Madison Harper, Mason Harper, Olivia Clunie, Bailee Lich and Cameron Harper; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Feliza, Isabel, Mia and Jadyn; and his beloved cat, Tippy.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Ruben Waddell; mother, Doris Stevens; mother-in-law, Bernice Whitney; brother, Rick Snippen and step-son, Wayne Robb.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m., with the funeral service to immediately follow at 7 p.m. Services will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013, at Brookville Road Community Church, 7480 U.S. 52, New Palestine, IN 46163.
