Betty L. (Parker) Leonard, 81, passed away March 2, 2013, at her home in Ruskin, Fla. Born Aug. 24, 1931, in Bowling Green, Ohio, she was the daughter of Lloyd Howard and Hazel Marie (Carr) Parker.

She met her husband at Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky., in the fall of 1949. They were married March 15, 1950, in Ky. She obtained a B.S. in Elementary Education from Youngstown State University and held teaching positions in Lake Milton, Ohio, Bellbroook, Ohio, and in the Mt. Vernon school system in Fortville. At Mt. Vernon High School, she was the reading lab instructor, and later she taught at the Fortville Elementary School. Her favorite activities were cooking  and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Leonard of Ruskin, Fla.; her children, Robert Leonard, Jr. of Fortville, Tim Leonard of Fortville, and Joyce (Bob) Bolander of Fortville; seven grandchildren; and six great – grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her brother, James Parker.

After cremation in Ruskin, Fla., a memorial service will be held later this spring in her home town  of Salem, Ohio, where she will be buried in a grave beside her parents.
