Miriam Anna Schaekel
Miriam Anna Schaekel, 86, of Greenfield/Mt Comfort, passed away March 2, 2013. Miriam was born at Freelandville, Ind., Sept. 11, 1926, to Henry and Sophia Piper Johanningsmeier.
Miriam worked in sales at Real Silk , Zerox Corp and L.S. Ayers. She was an assisstant Teacher's aid at Holy Cross Lutheran Church of which she was a member. Miriam enjoyed being involved with the IVFA Firemans Auxilary for over 35 years.
Miriam is survived by her daughters, Linda (Gary) Fry, Delphia M. Schaekel; son, Richard (Susan) Schaekel; brother, Raymond Johanningsmeier; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Miriam was preeceded in death by her husband, Calvin Fred Schaekel in 2007; brothers, Anthony and William Johanningsmeier; and sisters, Mildred Gray, Ruth Boyle, Marie Girton and Jean Bowden.
Visitation will be from 4 till 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Hendryx Mortuary, Cumberland. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013, at the funeral home, with burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in New Palestine, Ind.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Buck Creek Twp Fire Dept.
