Adalberto “Albert” Peña

Adalberto “Albert” Peña, 87 years, a resident of Philadelphia, Ind., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at his residence.

He was born March 4, 1925, and raised in Mission and Pharr, Texas, and was the son of the late Manuel G. & Juanita (Vallareal) Peña.

He was a Baker for 35 years at Omar Bakery, and retired from Colonial Baking Company in 1986. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre.  He was a Sergeant in the Army Air Corp. He was a member of Warren Baptist Church of Indianapolis, loved carpentry work, gardening, word search puzzles, feeding and watching birds. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Haley) Peña of Greenfield, whom he married on March 28, 1960; sons, Eddie Peña of Beech Grove, Stephen Peña of McCordsville, Timothy Peña of South Haven, Miss., Anthony Peña of Noblesville; daughter, Mary Todd of Martinsville; sister, Dalia Jackson of Greenfield; 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above; brother, Lupe Peña; and a sister, Angelita Peña.

Visitation will be 4 – 8 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery with military graveside rites provided by the Greenfield Veteran Honor Guard.
