Diane (Oliver) Spearing, 73, of New Palestine, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family after a long struggle with congestive heart failure on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013.  Born on Oct. 30, 1939, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Byron and Tina (Jackson) Oliver.

She graduated from Howe High School in 1957. She married Jack Spearing on Sept. 8, 1957, in Indianapolis.

In addition to raising three children, Diane had worked at Brown Library, Stretch-n-Sew, and Dowel Flower & Landscape Co. She was the assistant to the Director of Religious Education at Holy Spirit Catholic Church and had kept books for Spearing & Son plumbing.  She also worked at Rose Lady flower shop in New Palestine before she was last employed by UBS financial services.  As a receptionist, she enjoyed keeping everyone in line and the candy jar filled.  Diane was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.

Surviving her are her husband of 55 ½ years, Jack F. Spearing of New Palestine; sons, Scott F. Spearing of Hazel Green, Ala., Kevin A. (Karla) Spearing of New Palestine; daughter, Elaine Thomas of New Palestine;  grandchildren, Timothy, Elizabeth, David, Amy, Amanda, Melissa, Danielle; and great-grandchild, Alexis.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Her final resting place is at Washington Park East Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.
