Matthew Richard VanVelse, 33, of Greenfield, entered peacefully into Heaven Jan. 14, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Matt was a 1998 Graduate of Beech Grove High School. He spent over 10 years with Heritage Automotive Group as a sales manager. Matt enjoyed both playing and watching sports, especially his favorite team, the Indianapolis Colts. But Matt's biggest love was his family, beloved wife and best friend, Carrie, and his dog, Stella. He cherished the moments he spent with them. He will be remembered for his overwhelming generosity and care for others. He will truly be missed by many.
Matt is survived by his wife, Carrie Breanne VanVelse; parents, Reginald Patrick (Nancy) VanVelse and Marian Rae (Stan) Cumbarelis; brothers, Mike (Danielle) Brooking and Mark (Jenny) Brooking; sisters, Allison and Emilie VanVelse; grandparents, Bradford and Donna Fitzpatrick, Eveline VanVelse, Carmen Cumbarelis, and Ralph and Edna Watkins; parents-in-law, Brenda and Bryan VanVlynen; his dog, Stella Lynn; 6 nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jan VanVelse and Rosemary Fitzpatrick.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19th at Flanner and Buchanan Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20th with visitation 1 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to IU Simon Cancer Center or to the family c/o Carrie VanVelse.
