James F. “Red” Andrews, 95, passed away Jan. 16, 2013, at Kindred Healthcare in Greenfield. Born on May 4, 1917, he was the son of Charlie and Margaret (Lewis) Andrews. He married Loral “Rosie” Herner on Aug. 6, 1950 in Greenfield.

He worked for Indianapolis Public Transit as a driver for 32 years before retiring in 1979. He was a member of Greenfield Moose #987 and the Spring Lake Men’s Club. He loved tinkering with lawnmowers and working in his yard.

Surviving James are his daughters, Anita Anderson of Greenfield, Patricia Chapman of San Diego, Calif., Susan Hughett of Indianapolis; 9 grandchildren, Angela (Gary) Jackson of Greenfield, Christy (Mike) Heiny of Greenfield, Julie (Cam) Hayes of Kingsburg, Calif., Mike McMurrer of Crystal River, Fla., Diane (Lonnie) Burklow of New Palestine, Kathy (Gary) Rhyne of Indianapolis, Scott (Tish) Hughett of Jordan, Randy Hughett of Indianapolis, Karen (Mark) Gough of Martinsville; seventeen great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; many cousins; nephews; and a niece.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Loral Andrews; daughter, Sharon McMurrer; parents, Charlie and Margaret Andrews; sisters, Della Wiggins, Ethel Shirley; brothers, Ancel Andrews, Carl J. Andrews, and Roy Andrews.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m.on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday Jan. 19, 2013, also at the mortuary. Chaplain Paul Enyart will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
