Sharon A. Kingen, age 68, of McCordsville, passed away on Jan. 8, 2013. Born on July 6, 1944, she was the daughter of Dennis “Dink” and Mildred Dale (Snyder) Kingen.

Dr. Kingen earned her doctorate in Literature & English from Ball State University. She was the owner of Kingen Gun Club and was formerly a teacher and professor at Ball State University and at the University of Indianapolis. Dr. Kingen was a member of the Eden Order of the Eastern Star #101, Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church, and the Indiana Trapshooting Association. She also won the Grand National Ladies Championship award for Trapshooting in Vandalia, Ohio.

Surviving her are her cousins, Karen Fleming of Greenfield, Marta Evry Bowman of California, and Dennis Fisk of Greenfield; and many great-cousins.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and grandparents, Bob Kingen and Allen and Gertrude Snyder.

Visitation will be on from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield with an OES service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at Washington Park East.
