Leon Wilson, 85, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, after a long struggle with congestive heart failure. Born Roy Leon Wilson on June 10, 1927 in Anderson, Ind., he was the son of Lowell and Glyda (Spall) Wilson.

He graduated from Westland High School in 1945 and took specialty courses at Purdue University thereafter. Leon married Minnie Lou Carmichael on July 10, 1949, and they were married for 54 years until her death in 2003. In 2004, Leon married Annabelle Fatzinger Pasko and they spent their remaining years in Greenfield, enjoying their family and friends.

In the early 60’s, Mr. Wilson supplemented his farming operations by becoming a Surge Dairy Equipment dealer. In 1964, he and wife Minnie started Leon Wilson Real Estate in their home. Leon was a member of Shiloh Christian Church and was also a member of the Hancock Lodge #101, F.&A.M. for over 50 years. He was also a member of the National, State, County, and Metropolitan Indianapolis boards of REALTORS. He enjoyed working, spending time with his family, and doing yard work. In the last few years, his favorite pastime was joining friends for coffee at McDonald’s.

Surviving him are his wife, Annabelle Wilson of Greenfield; children, Roy (Nancy) Wilson, Roger (Terri) Wilson, and Lou Nell (Dennis) Richardson all of Greenfield; stepchildren, Debbie (Mike) Walker of Charlottesville, Dewayne Wilson of Wilkinson, Anissa (Chris) Conley of Muncie, and Amy Blackwell of Shirley; brothers, Jay Wilson of Carthage and Richard Wilson of Wilkinson; grandchildren, Megan Wilson Wood, Ryan Wilson, Brooke Triplett, Chad Baer, Robert Baer, Heather Rankins, Marc Richardson, Adam Richardson, and Mindy Richardson; step-grandchildren, Jason Walker, Dayne Walker, Britney Fraley, Kyle Wilson, Aaron Wilson, Shane, Krisha, Brayton, and Evan Conley, and Cassidy and Danielle Blackwell; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Lowell and Glyda Wilson; first wife Minnie Lou Wilson; and 5 siblings, Robert Wilson, Bertha Mae Jackson, Barbara Jean Colestock, Lawrence Wilson, and Benny Wilson.

Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, at the mortuary with additional viewing hours from 9:30 until the time of the service. Pastor Fred Girdwood will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
