Mary Irene Fairchild, 84, of New Castle, died on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born June 24, 1928, in Albany, Ky., a daughter of the late Willie and Bertie (Cash) Lewis.
Survivors include her husband, of 65 years, Wallace Fairchild; son, Danny (Faye) Fairchild of New Castle; daughter, Joyce (Don) Lacy of New Castle; four grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; two great- stepgrandchildren; three brothers, Jim (Phyllis) Lewis of Iowa City, Iowa, Clayton (Virginia) Lewis of New Castle, Howard (Leila) Lewis of Hagerstown; three sisters, W.J. Howe of Hagerstown, Wanda (Ronnie) Lee of Eaton, Ohio and Karen (Tim) Hamilton of New Castle; brother-in-law, Don Snyder of New Castle; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Crandel Lewis; a sister, Delores Snyder and a brother-in-law, Bob Howe.
Services will be 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Pastors Allen Southerland and Mark Herbkersman officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Friends may call from 1- 3 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
