Myron D. Huntzinger, 94 , formerly of Pendleton, passed away on Dec. 11, 2012, in Ellenton, Fla. He was born on April 6, 1918, to Irvin and Neva (Bousman) Huntzinger of Pendleton, where he graduated from Pendleton High School.
He attended Purdue University. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Upon his return from the war, he worked for Delco Remy, Anderson, and the Pendleton Post Office. During his career at the post office, he started as a letter carrier delivering mail on foot and when his father retired as a rural mail carrier in 1946, Myron assumed his father’s route. Myron continued serving his route #2 patrons until he retired in 1977. He also retired from the Air Force Reserves in 1978. Myron was a member of the Pendleton United Methodist Church for several years and acted as an usher until he moved to his permanent Florida home in 1982. He then transferred his United Methodist membership to the First United Methodist Church of Palmetto.
Survivors include two children, Michael (Debbie) Huntzinger, Mich. and Karen (Robert) Kirkman, Ind.; sister, Phyllis (Huntzinger) Bonner, Calif.; grandson, Matthew Huntzinger; Calif.; great-granddaughter, Zoi Huntzinger, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie (Roth) Huntzinger; second wife, Maxine (Miller) Huntzinger.
No services will be held and burial will be at the Grovelawn Cemetery in Pendleton.
