Charles W. Mershon, 77, of Greenfield passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at his residence. He was born March 5, 1935, in Kentucky to the late Louis and Mary (McClain) Mershon.

Charles retired in 1991 after 26 years with Navel Avionics engineering department. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Intrepid, was an avid golfer, member of the Greenfield Moose Lodge and the American Legion Post #119.

Charles is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nellie (Absher) Mershon of Greenfield; sons, Kent Mershon of San Diego, Calif., Dale Mershon of Morristown; daughters, LaDonna (Billy) Williams of Lexington, Ky., Cheryl (Greg) Brooks of Greenfield; brother, Lewis Mershon of Illinois; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Tracey Mershon; brother, Donald Mershon; and sister, Barbara Ottinger.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield with Rev. Scott Proctor officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday, at the funeral home.
