Christine (Gibson) Sexton, devoted mother and grandmother, 73, of North Port, Fla., passed away on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Capital Regional Medical Center, Tallahassee, Fla., after an extended illness.
She was born on Feb. 9, 1939, at Colson, Ky., the daughter of Charlie Gibson and Polly (Sexton) Gibson. She lived in Kentucky, and then Chicago, prior to moving to Greenfield, in 1971, where she lived until 1984, when she moved to Venice, Fla.
She graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University of Indianapolis (IUPUI) in 1977 with her degree in nursing. She went on to work in Greenfield, Venice, Fla., Port Charlotte, Fla. and Tallahassee, Fla., until she retired in 1997. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Point, Fla. and also a member of Faith Fellowship Church, in Crawfordville, Fla.
She is survived by her sons, Randy Sexton of Hazard, Ky. and Andy Sexton, of Sarasota, Fla.; daughter, Pamela Sexton (Bryan) Alyea, of Crawfordville, Fla.; brothers, Doug (Von) Gibson of Greenfield and Joe (Mary) Gibson of Litt Carr, Ky.; sisters, Reba Dennis, Symolene Anderson, and Shirley (Gibson) Walker, all of Canton, Ohio, and Norma Jean Gibson of Greenfield; and sister-in-law, Mary (Craft) Gibson, Red Fox, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Candace Sexton, Trish (Alyea) O’Neill, both of Greenville, Ind.; Tonya Alyea, Mount Olive, Ala., Brandon Alyea, Leland Alyea and Kelsey Alyea, all of Crawfordville, Fla; and a host of nieces and nephews; family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lenville Sexton, Jr., Whitesburg, Ky., and Ralph Anthony Bucata, North Port, Fla.; her father, Charlie Gibson; and mother, Polly (Sexton) Gibson, Colson, Ky.; and brothers, Chester Gibson and Lester Gibson, of Knott County, Ky.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, and Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Hindman Funeral Services Chapel, Hindman, Ky..
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Hindman Funeral Services Chapel, Hindman, Ky.. Burial will follow in the Bill Gibson Cemetery, Rockhouse, Ky. under the direction of Hindman Funeral Services.
