Joseph Edward Rodgers, 86, of Greenfield, passed away on Nov. 4, 2012, at his home in Greenfield. Born on Dec. 10, 1925, in Peoria, Ill., he was the son of Russel J. and Thelma (Gladhart) Rodgers.

Joseph married Eleanor Irene Olson on Dec. 31, 1951, in Indianapolis and attended the Undenominational Church for over 60 years. He worked for Superior Septic Service in Indianapolis as the Vice President for 37 years before retiring in 1992. Additionally, Mr. Rodgers served in the United States Army Reserve as a medic for three years.

Surviving him are his wife, Eleanor Irene Rodgers of Greenfield; son, Dean A. Rodgers of Indianapolis; and daughters, Marlys K. (Joe) Burris of McCordsville and  Elaine S. (Price) Irving of Greenfield; grandchildren, Lori, Todd, Jason, Joey, Josh, Jeremy, Tyson, Michael, and Curtiss; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Thelma Rodgers; father, Russel Rodgers; brother, Charles Rodgers; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Warren Rodgers.

Visitation will take place from 12 until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012,  at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the mortuary.
