Norman Edward O’Connor, 76, passed away on Oct. 26, 2012. He was born in Beech Grove. on June 14, 1936, to William Edward and Anna Mary Hajek O’Connor.

Norman was in the first graduating class from Manual High School on June 7, 1954. He served in the Navy and Navy Reserves from 1954 to 1962. After his discharge from the Navy, he was a leader of Boy Scouts of America Troop 40 until 1965. He was a member of the Bible Church and the Moose Lodge, He was an avid golfer, bowler, archer and square dancer. He was also professional ball room dance teacher for Arthur Murray Dance Studios. He loved to sail, work sudoku puzzles, fish, camp and work with wood, but he especially loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; children, Jeffrey (Tom) Roach, Rick (Doris) O’Connor, Rebecca Velazquez; brother, Monte (Helen) O’Connor; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at the funeral center. Entombment will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
