Leroy Dawson, 82, of New Palestine, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012. He was born on Feb. 5, 1930, in McCrory, Ark., to the late Roy Lee and Eupha (Capps) Dawson.

Mr. Dawson retired in 1986 from Navistar (International Harvester) after working there for over 30 years. Leroy enjoyed casinos, the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and stock car racing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Leroy married his wife, Barbara, on March 16, 1985, and she survives. Other survivors are Susie Rea, friend and mother of his son, Ray (Sally) Dawson; and daughter, Kathy (Dave) Millis. Also survives are a brother, John (Sandy) Dawson; sisters, Alma (Joe) Merriman and Mae (Eddie) Sexton; grandchildren, Kristie (Todd) Lowe, Erin (Ronnie) Goney, and Michelle (Craig) Kersey; great-grandchildren, T.J. Lowe, Dawson and Ashton Goney; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents; sister, Lucille Sanders; and three brothers, Stanley, Clyde, and Floyd Dawson.

Visitation will take place from 11 until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
