Shirley G. (Duff) Lewis, 71, of Greenfield, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Hancock Regional Hospital. Born on Jan. 29, 1941, number 14 of 16 children, in Floyd County, Ky., she was the daughter of Ira and Nancy (Combs) Duff. She married Michael Roger Lewis on April 19, 1965.
Shirley was a homemaker and attended Greenfield Church of God. She enjoyed watching golf, NBA and was a Pacers fan. She loved traveling, quilting and playing with her great-grandson. Shirley was the neighborhood mamaw, she was a loving and caring person to all her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Rita Neal (Chris) Peper and Michael R. Lewis, Jr. both of Greenfield; siblings, Christine Scott, Arlene Mize, and Enoch Duff all of Greenfield, Martha Roberts of Kentucky, Mageline Hughes of Michigan, and Dewey Duff of Michigan City, Ind.; five grandchildren, Anthony (Brittany) White of Indianapolis, Joseph (Jill) White of Chicago, Andrew Phillips, Joshua (Kassie Stewart) Miller, and Jeremiah Humphrey all of Greenfield; and one great-grandchild, Anthony James White.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Ira and Nancy Duff; husband, Michael Lewis; daughters, Sheila Phillips and Regina Humphrey; nine brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, also at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
