Joseph B. Thompson, Sr., 89, a resident of Knightstown, died on Thursday, Sept.13, 2012, at Golden Living Center Brandywine. Born April 6, 1923, in Flat Rock, Ill., and was the son of the late Everett and Cora L. (Bright) Thompson.

He was a W.W. II veteran serving in the United States Navy.

Surviving are two sons, J. Bruce Thompson, Jr. of Robinson, Ill, Timothy E. (Barbara) Thompson of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Rose Ann Chew of Knightstown, Linda Priest of Rushville; 17 grandchildren; 40 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife, Miriam E. (Rhodes) Thompson, Dec.18, 2011; an infant sister, Barbara Thompson; a grandson, Chuck Benslay; three brothers, Philip, Marion and James Thompson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept.18, 2012, p.m. at Wilkinson Church of Christ, Wilkinson, with Russ Lutes officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery, in Knightstown with military graveside rites given by the Knightstown American Legion. Friends were received Monday, Sept.17, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson and one hour prior to service at the church, Tuesday.
