Kenneth Michael Carr, 67, of Columbia, Tenn., passed away suddenly in the emergency room of Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tenn., on Wednesday evening, Sept. 5, 2012. He was born Aug. 17, 1945 in Detroit, Mich. His parents were the late Kenneth V. Carr and Susan Bernice Eagle Carr.

Mr. Carr was a machine repairman with General Motors with more than 31 years of service. Prior to General Motors, he worked for the Chrysler Corporation with 15 years of service. He was a long time member of both the Eden Masonic Lodge #477 F&AM in Eden and the Greenfield chapter of the York Rite. Mr. Carr was "Master" of his Masonic lodge in 1989. He was a loving husband and grandfather who loved gardening and restoring old cars.

His family includes his wife of 43 years, Phyllis Kniep Carr, whom he married on Nov. 5, 1968 in Indianapolis; a son, Shane Carr of Madisonville, Tenn.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie (Jim) Over of Greenfield, and Tara (Jon) McKinley of Columbia, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Madison, Jacob and Amber Carr, children of Shane; Emma and Jayden McKinley, children of Tara and Jon; and Logan and Lucas Over, children of Laurie and Jim; sister, Linda Gunby of Gonzales, La., brothers, Ben (Marijo) Carr of Greenfield, and Victor of Fortville.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at Baxter, Tenn. He was buried with full military honors and laid to rest in Smellage Memory Gardens at Boma, Tenn.
