Russell L. Goldy, 98, of New Castle, passed away Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at his home. He was born Feb. 9, 1914, in Kentucky, the son of the late Charley and Ida (Razor) Goldy.
He greatly enjoyed buying and selling real estate and building homes. He was a quiet man who loved to read and loved his two dogs, Sam and Rennie.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lola (Goforth) Goldy; two daughters, Suzanne Wools of Shelbyville, Ill. and Elizabeth (Robert) Slunaker of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Chris Bryan, Brian Wools, Matthew Wools and Jennifer Ross; four stepgrandchildren, Greg (Becky) Slunaker, Jeff Slunaker, Robert William Slunaker Jr. (Julie) and Shannon (Greg) Hall; six great-grandchildren, Blake, Sierra, Jacob, Olivia, Jared and Dillon; and 10 great-stepgrandchildren, Bradley, Joseph, Robert William III, Alaura, Christopher, Grace, Sam, Gabriel, Cayden and Riley.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by three sisters, Eva, Ora and Pearl.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Sproles Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Humane Society or the New Castle-Henry County Emergency Unit with envelopes available at the funeral home.
