Margaret Irene Cole, 91, of Shelbyville, former longtime Morristown resident, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Ashford Place Health Campus. She was born Aug. 5, 1921, in Scott County, Ind. She was the daughter of Raymond and Eliza (Everhart) Engleking.

She graduated from Morristown High School in 1938. She married Carroll J. "C.J." Cole on March 14, 1943, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 2002. Mrs. Cole was a homemaker and had formerly worked for an insurance company in downtown Indianapolis when she and C.J. first married. She was a member of Morristown Methodist Church and had attended Gwynneville Christian Church. Mrs. Cole was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary # 102 and had formerly been a Den mother for Boy Scouts. She enjoyed sewing, reading, square dancing, boating, traveling, tending to her flower gardens where she grew beautiful petunias. Mrs. Cole and her husband attended the "Little Nashville Opera" in Brown County nearly every Friday evening to listen to country music.

Survivors include her daughter, Jan (Keith) Theobald of Shelbyville; sons, Daryl (Lisa) Cole of Greenfield and Phillip (Noreen) Cole of St. Augustine, Fla.; brothers, Ivan (Kathy) Engleking and Marvin (Jeannie) Engleking, both of Greenfield; uncle, Buck (Mary) Everhart of Morristown; grandchildren, Sara Cole, Andrea Cole, Doug (Renee) Theobald and Todd (Amy) Theobald; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Nina Rae Cole; brothers, Roland Engleking and Neal Engleking; sister, Norma Matlock; and two granddaughters, Laurie Cole and Nicole' Cole.

 Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown. Graveside services will be at noon Friday at Hanover Cemetery, with Chaplain Tony Kelly officiating.
