James Ronald “Ron” Mills, 48, passed away on Aug. 5, 2012, in Spearfish, S.D. Born on July 2, 1964, in Batesville, Miss., he was the son of James D. Mills and Martha G. (Dodson) Mills Morita.
He worked as a carpenter and as Superintendent for MacDougal Pierce for 5 years. Ron attended Brookville Road Community Church. He loved hunting, golfing, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and watching NASCAR.
Surviving him are his father, James Mills of Batesville Miss.; mother and step-father, Martha and Robert S. Morita of Beaver Creek, OH; daughter, Candace Mills of Las Vegas; brother, Mike (Diane) Mills of New Palestine; sisters, Lisa C. Petty of Indianapolis and Christal S. (Jake) Keating of Atlanta, Ga; nieces and nephews, Douglas Mills, Jennifer Mills, Kristin Sprague, Jenna Sprague, Erica Pence, and Courtney Petty; one great-nephew, Jacob Hofferbert; one great niece, Lyla Wagner; and his loving canine companions, Lana and Gizmo.
Preceding him in death was his grandmother, Willie Pass.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at the mortuary. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery.
