Quentin Emerson Petry, 93, a resident of Greenfield passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Golden Living Center Brandywine, Greenfield. He was born on March 31, 1919, in Lewisville, Ind. to the late Harvey & Ethel Zenobia (Wiker) Petry.

He served his country in the US Army during World War II from 1942, to 1946, and retired from Smith Implements as a tractor mechanic. He was member of the Stringtown Church of The Nazarene where he served as a Sunday morning greeter, usher and on various committees. He enjoyed operating CB radios and especially loved his family and the time he spent with them.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Howard) Petry of Greenfield whom he married on December 20, 1941; daughters, Karen (Robert) DeRenard of Fontana, Calif., Janis (Roy) Blessinger of Greenfield, Evelyn (Wayne) Sammons of Rushville, Elaine (Philip)Steele of McCordsville; sons, Dahl (Kay) Petry of Carthage, Lowell (Elizabeth) Petry of Smithfield, Va.; brothers, Malcolm (Darlene) Petry of New Castle, Wilmer (Marie) Petry of Downey, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Gary Petry, Harold Petry; grandson, Stephen Petry; sisters, Reba Wallace, Wilma Bray, Clementine Petry, Naoma Lyons; brothers, Verlin, Frederick, and Hugh.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday July 10, 2012, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Carthage Town Cemetery, Carthage.
