Joseph E. Cook, Jr., 89, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday June 30, 2012, at Golden Living Center Brandywine. He was born Aug. 11, 1922, in Greenfield, Ind. to the late Joseph E. Sr. and Ethel M. (Morris) Cook.

He served in the Army, in the 87th Golden Acorn Division from 1942 until 1945, including the Battle of the Bulge. He was a job setter for Chrysler Corporation for 30 years, a 22 year staff photographer for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, operated his own photography business in Greenfield and also worked for Greenfield Ice Cream Company for 20 years. He was a 30 plus member of the Greenfield American Legion Post 119 and enjoyed woodworking after his retirement.

He is survived by sons, Terry (Debbie) Cook of Charlottesville, Don (Rita) Cook of Greenfield; daughters, Barbara Corley of Greenfield, Sandra (Rick) Evans of Indianapolis, Patty (Bob) Welter of Greenfield; sister, Mary Jane Henn of Syracuse, Ind.,11 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren and 2 great- great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lenna Mae Cook in 2007; son, William E. Cook; daughter, Linda Sue Cook; three brothers Richard, Jim, Robert; 3 grandchildren, Kenneth R. Corley, Gary Farquer, Shellie Miller; great- grandson, David Turnbill; and great- great-grandson, Alex Miller.

Visitation will be from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield with military graveside rites provided by the Greenfield Veteran Honor Guard.
