Alene Rose Goodwin, 89, of Greenfield, passed away on May 29, 2012, in Indianapolis. Born on November 21, 1922, in Monticello, Ky., she was the daughter of Charles E. and Susie (Alexander) Selvidge.
Alene married Earl J. Goodwin on March 6, 1945, in San Pedro, Calif. She was an active member at Calvary Baptist Church where she also served as a Sunday School teacher.
Surviving her are her sons, Richard E. (Dee) Goodwin of Greenfield and Gary E. Goodwin of Westfield; daughter, Debby J. Chambers of Tenn.; brothers, Forrest (Gloria) Selvidge of New Castle and Jim (Evelyn) Selvidge of Greenfield; sister-in-law, Margaret Selvidge of New Castle; brother-in-law, John Rutherford of New Castle; grandchildren, Greg, Ryan, Ben ( Heather ), Adam, Kim, and Jessi ( Brandon ); and great-granddaughters, Raven, Peyton, Katelynn, and Eden Rose.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brothers, William Selvidge and Stanley Selvidge; sister, Lois Jean Rutherford; and sister-in-law, Garnett Selvidge.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2012, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Greenfield. Reverend Carl Riley will be officiating and burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
