Robert Wayne Hallgarth, 77, of Greenfield, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Waldron Health and Rehab.

 Born June 25, 1934, in Cross Plains, Ind., he was the son of Clayton and Gladys (Thornton) Hallgarth.

Mr. Hallgarth was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1957 to 1959, he also played basketball for the Army. He drove a truck from 1962 to 1978, then he moved and serviced mobile homes from 1978 until retiring in 2000. Mr. Hallgarth was a former member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, race cars and loved NASCAR. Mr. Hallgarth had lived in Greenfield for the past 20 to 25 years; he was previously from New Palestine.

 Survivors include his daughters, Robin (husband, Evertt) Ailes of Fairland and Vicky (husband, Alvin) Ailes of Fountaintown; son, Kevin Hallgarth of Morristown; sisters, Donna Harlow of Noblesville, Pat Reeves of Greenwood, Judy Warrick of Greenfield and Becky Hornaday of Rushville; brother, Mike Hallgarth of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Dawnyel Baldridge, Evertt W. Ailes, Brittney Hallgarth and Crystal Ailes; great-grandchildren, Dakota W. Baldridge, Harlie Baldridge, Courtlynn Baldridge, Tori Ailes, Emersynn Ailes and Luke Baumann; and several nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark Allen Hallgarth; sisters, Polly Whitesell, Mary Alice Dolock and Janice Doll; and brothers, Chester Hallgarth, Delmar Hallgarth and Carrol Hallgarth.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.

 Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Larry Manship officiating.

 Interment will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington.
