James D. Campbell, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, in Indianapolis. Born on Sept. 12, 1929, in Indianapolis, he was the son of J.D. and Nellie E. (Horn) Campbell.

Jim graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1960. He worked for Naval Avionics in Indianapolis as an engineer for 32 years before retiring in 1987. Jim was also a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Korean War.

 Surviving him are his children, Clare (Michael) Campbell-Walshe of Chicago, Kara Davis of Greenfield, Jay (Jenny) Campbell of Greenfield, and Mary Campbell of Princeton, Ind.; and eight grandchildren, David (Eryn) Jones, Justin Davis, Patrick Davis, Chris Campbell, Colleen Campbell, Kelly Campbell, Thomas Walshe, and Patrick Walshe.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a daughter, Amy Campbell.

Memorial visitation will take place on Sunday, March 4, 2012, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.
