Anna Louise Messick, 95, a resident of Greenfield, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday Feb. 25, 2012 at the Golden Living Center, Brandywine in Greenfield, Indiana.

She was born Sept. 27, 1916, in Montgomery, Indiana and was the daughter of the late James Arthur and Mary Ellen (McDonald) McGuire.

Anna worked as a seamstress in Washington, Indiana before marrying Henry Max Messick on Feb. 18, 1939. She was a homemaker and member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Indianapolis for over 50 years before moving to St. Michael’s in 2007. She loved to sew, make quilts and pray the Psalms. She was deeply grateful for the excellent care she received from the staff at the Golden Living Center, Brandywine. She often said, “This is the best place there is”.

She is survived by daughter-in-law, Suzanna K. Messick of Indianapolis; granddaughters, Cynthia K. (Darren) Lee of Indianapolis, Michelle M. (Steve) Johnson of Carmel; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Max Messick, April 15, 1980; brother, James McGuire; sister, Helen McGuire; sons, Henry Max Messick, Jr., Ronald J. Messick and Rev. Severin (Mark) Messick, OSB., St. Mienrad Archabbey.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2012, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd. Greenfield, IN 46140. A Rosary will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2012, with visitation following until 8 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel Greenfield. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday March 3, 2012, at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Montgomery, Indiana.
