Delane F. Smith , 76, of Shirley, died on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born Oct. 18, 1935, to the late Raymond and Inies (McDaniel) Smith.
Delane served his country in the United States Army during the Korea War.
Survivors include his wife, Sheryll (Widvey) Smith; son, Drew Edwin Diederich Jr. of Hemet Calif.; daughters, Patricia Ann Stahm of Phoenix, Ariz., Denise Caryll Diederich of Maricopa Ariz., Monique Valerie Darden of Charenton, La., Minnette Marie Tafoya of Baldwin La., and Madeleine Caryll Bodin of Franklin, La.; brother, Raymond Smith of Clio, Mich., sister; Diane Anderson of Traverse City, Mich.; fifteen grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown with Gary Sickle officiating.
