Charles L. “Chet” Holmes, 83, a resident of Greenfield passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at Kindred Healthcare, Greenfield. He was born April 7, 1928, in Hancock County, Ind., to the late Maurice O. and Ruth R. (Harrison) Holmes.
He was a graduate of Greenfield High School, retired from farming in 1986, was a member of the Eden United Methodist Church, former school bus driver for Hancock Central Schools and former security supervisor at St. Francis Hospital, Beech Grove.
Survivors include his daughter, Victoria Lynn (Robert) Doss of Greenfield; sisters, Betty Lutsko of Orlando, Fla., Joan Payne of Charlottesville, Ind., Jeanne Frazier of Philadelphia, Ind.; grandchildren, Ryan (Ginger) Ferris, Bryan (Lori) Sewell, Trisha (Jason) Evans, Aaron (Sara) Kincade and 4 great grand-children.
He was preceded in death by his life-long companion, Beverly Ann Sonley; daughter, Pamela Kincade; sister, Karen Grinstead; brothers, Earl, James, Robert, Richard and Larry Holmes.
Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. A Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery, Wilkinson.
