Robert Phillip Owens, 85, a resident of Greenfield, passed away Thursday Feb. 2, 2012, at his home. He was born July 19, 1926, in Urmeyville, Ind., Johnson County, to the late Rev. Ralph G. Owens and Irene Elizabeth (Lacy) Owens.

Bob Served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 during World War II. He married Maude Evelyn (Smith) Owens in 1946 and moved to Greenfield in 1952. He was a meat cutter for Kroger and Marsh and then started his own business in 1959 as Owens Record Center. He later renamed it Bob Owens TV & appliances which he sold and then retired in 1989. He was a 58 year member of Hancock Lodge #101 F. & A.M., the York Rite and the Scottish Rite. He was a former member of the American Legion, Kiwanis and attended Highest Praise Worship Center all of Greenfield.

He is survived by his daughter, Cherie (Charlie) Owens; sister, Betty Lou Garinger; granddaughter, Kelly Mercer; grandson, Brian (Sondra) Owens; great-grandchildren, Phillip and Brendan Owens; extended family, Charles Olvey Jr., Scott and Candi Sills and children, Jack and Nicole Milam, Ricky and Alisse Stamps and children, Dino and Damion Wilson and children, Todd and Ashley Hill, many nieces, nephews and family friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maude Evelyn (Smith) Owens in 2004.

Family and friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., with Masonic services being held at noon. Burial will follow at Lewis Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Shelbyville.
