Jackie B. Roysdon, 76, of Columbia, S.C., formerly of Fortville, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, in McCordsville surrounded by his family. He was born on May 5, 1935, in Somerset, Ky., to the late Hershel and Mary Kathryn (Dye) Roysdon.

Jack retired as the Chief of Academic Records from Ft. Jackson Army Base. He held the title of Chief Warrant Officer 3 at the time of his retirement. Jack was U.S. Army Veteran having served in Viet Nam and being stationed all over the world. He was a member of the Ft. Benjamin Harrison VFW Post 7119, the past president of the Fortville Optimist Club and an Assistant Scout Master for the Fortville Boy Scout Troop. Jack enjoyed bowling and fishing in his free time.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Suchocki) Roysdon whom he married on Sept. 18, 1957; son, Jim (Teresa Williams) Roysdon of Tampa, Fla.; daughter, Deb (Sherry) Roysdon of McCordsville; grandchildren, Cameron Price-Roysdon, Kylee Price-Roysdon, Ashley (John) Moore and Nick Murdick; and great-granddaughter, Arleigh Moore.

Jack was preceded in death by sister, Aileen Roysdon.

Friends called on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fortville. Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Military Rites immediately followed the funeral services at the funeral home. Graveside services were held on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, S.C. A memorial service will be held in Columbia, S.C. at a later date.
