Keith Heifner, age 86, of Rockville, Ind., died at 4:33 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 07, 2012, in Union Hospital at Terre Haute. He was born on March 16, 1925, in Hancock County, Ind., to the late Ralph Heifner and Florence Lowe Heifner.
He retired in 1987 as the manager of the Parke County REMC with 32 years of service and worked five years prior for Kankakee Valley REMC. He was a 1943 graduate of Charlottesville High School and a 1950 graduate of Purdue with an engineering degree. He was a Navy veteran of WWII serving from Oct. 1943 to May 1946. He was a member of the Rockville Christian Church where he served many years as an Elder and Sunday school teacher. He was a longtime member of the Friendship Sunday school class. He was a 50 plus year member of Parke Masonic lodge #8 and Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute.
Survivors include one son, Ralph Heifner of Indianapolis; three daughters, Jane Presslor of Rocky Fork, Ind., Marilyn McDonough of Indianapolis, and Donna Patch of Rockville, Ind.; sister, Rosella Reeves of Columbus, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his wife of 56 years, Alice Allender Heifner, whom he married on Oct. 5, 1946, in Greenfield, Ind., died on July 3, 2003.
Visitation was from 2 p.m. until to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Gooch Funeral Home. Services were at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 9, at Gooch Funeral Home,112 W. Howard St. in Rockville, Ind., with Kevin B. Jacks and Rev. Vern Ames officiating. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
