Dollie D. Kernagis, age 61, of Indianapolis died on Jan. 7, 2012, at Indiana University Hospital. Dollie was born on May 30, 1950. She was the daughter of Willie and Jessie Smith nee Chesser.
She is survived by her husband, John Kernagis; mother, Jessie; two sons, James (Rebecca) Thomas of Chicago, Ill., Joseph Thomas of Mokena, Ill.; two stepsons, Donald (Diana) Kernagis of Brookston, Ind., and Michael Kernagis of Colon, Mich.; one step-daughter, Kimberley (Ryan) Johnson of Colon, Mich.; three brothers, Terry (Claudette) Smith of Richton Park, Ill., Willie (Barbara) Smith of Markham, Ill., John (Yvette) Smith of Gilbert, Ariz,; two sisters, Lou Anne Meek of Lockport, Ill. and Mary (Carl) Frodin of Midlothian, Ill.; four grandchildren; and 12 step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at Hack Funeral Home. Services will follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. Tom Ewing officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a memorial to be established.
