Paul J. Elsner, age 91, of Greensburg, Ind., died on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at Heritage House Nursing Home. Paul was born on Aug. 25, 1920, in Jennings County, Ind., the son of Henry and Rose Elsner.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty (Wyman) Elsner; daughters, Katherine Elsner of Springfield, Ill.; Rosie (Carl) Stier, Frances Elsner, and Suzanne (Nick) Fasbinder, all of Greensburg, Ind.; sons, Joe Elsner of Greenfield, John (Vonda) Elsner of Greensburg, and Jeffery (Sandy) Elsner of Greensburg; sister, Helen (Delbert) Hausperger of North Vernon; brother, Oscar (Evelyn) Elsner of North Vernon; 22 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rita L. Wesseler; three grandchildren; four sisters; and three brothers.
There will be a visitation for family and friends on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., at the Gilliland – Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg, Ind., with a rosary service at 2:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at 10 a.m., at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg, Ind., with Fr. John Meyer officiating. Burial following at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
