Gordon A. Grabhorn, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at Hancock Regional Hospice. Born on Nov. 27, 1931, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Edgar A. and Wilma M. (Wilkins) Grabhorn.

Gordon graduated from New Palestine High School in 1949 and married Jo Ann Perry on April 21, 1955. He worked at the Indianapolis Star News as a stereotyper for 23 years. He then began working for 3M in printing product sales for 25 years before retiring in 1993. During that time, he also sold advertising for the Indiana Freemason Magazine, drove a school bus, and at one time owned the Grabhorn General Store. Gordon was the former Fire Chief of the Sugar Creek Volunteer Fire Department, was President of the New Palestine High School Alumni, and taught Sunday School at New Palestine United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1720 in Greenfield and the Order of the Eastern Star. Gordon also belonged to the Murat Shrine and the Scottish Rite. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, most recently at Hancock F&AM #101.

Additionally, Mr. Grabhorn was a United States Navy veteran who served during the Korean-Conflict.

Surviving him are his wife, Jo Ann Grabhorn of New Palestine; children, Gordon Kent Grabhorn of Greenfield, and T. Lynn Phair of Indianapolis; sister, Judith Grabhorn; grandson, Kevin Phair; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and siblings, Col. Edgar A. Grabhorn, Jr., Carolyn Grabhorn Orr, and Donald A. Grabhorn.

 Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Greenfield. A Masonic Service will take place at 4:30 p.m. A Memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. at the church.
